WELCOME TO THE BODY SHOP CYPRUS
Our story started in Brighton, England in 1976. It began with our founder, Dame Anita Roddick, and her belief in something revolutionary: that business could be a force for good. All the TBS products are cruelty free and are made with ingredients of natural origin. As The Body Shop Cyprus, we believe and always focusing in the most valuable cores of life which are environment, humans, and animals of Cyprus.
Since the launch of TBS in Cyprus back in 2017, we have been paying extra attention in brand awareness which is substantially empowered by strong activism spirit. Activism is a key element for us and since 2017 we are working on 6 activism pillars:
- Bio-bridge / planting: Usually, we choose areas that need planting, or they are destroyed by fire or man. These areas are not chosen by accident, but recommendations are given to us from the National Forestry Department of Cyprus. We have made a commitment to plant 100,000 trees/bushes in Cyprus.
- Green schedule: since 2017 we are creating yearly schedule. We have specific events that has to do with nature and/or helping animals. These events include cleaning beaches or forests, installing water tanks in forests for saving the endangered wild deer (moufflon) in collaboration with National Wildlife Department, building and donating artificial wooden nests for the endangered Cyprus owl in collaboration with National Wildlife Department.
- Dog ResPAWnsible: Since 2018 we have been working on launching a concept/project which would allow us to help stray animals in Cyprus – especially dogs. Help was asked from the European Commissioner of the Environment and European Commissioner of Volunteerism who loved and embraced the idea so www.dogrespawnsible.comwas created.
- CyprusSaysNoMore: in 2020 TBSI had launched an international campaign in collaboration with No More International. Taking on this opportunity, since the beginning of 2021 and in collaboration with No More International, TBS Cyprus is now the official representative of No More in Cyprus (www.cyprussaysnomore.org). A part of the work been done for Cyprus Says No More is the collaboration with SPAVO the official NGO fighting and preventing domestic violence against women. Within this context we are helping SPAVO in their needs. (House of Woman Nicosia – Istanbul convention, Abused Women Sanctuary Limassol.
- B-Corp: In 2019 TBS Cyprus got certified as a B-Corp company. This is not a once-off project, but it is something that requires a huge effort and takes a huge chunk of our time.
- Silver Alert: As we all know Silver Alert is a widely publicized bulletin that alerts the public when an elderly person or a person with a cognitive disability goes missing.
In just under 3 years we have been awarded with the World Activism Award and we will continue to do that, because as Mrs. Annita Roddick once said ‘I want to work for a company that contributes to and is part of the community. I want something not just to invest in. I want something to believe in.’
